As many had hoped back when it was first announced for the PlayStation 5, Death Stranding Director's Cut is indeed coming out soon for the PC. The PS5 release happened on September 24, 2021 and the PC release is said to be coming out Spring 2022. I'm going to guess it will be a late March 2022 release as that will place it almost exactly six months out from the original PlayStation 5 release.

The game is developed by Kojima Productions and will be published by 505 Games. Death Stranding Director's Cut will be out simultaneously for both the Epic Games Store and Steam.

Not only will the PC release feature a bunch of new content, but it will also be one of the first games to incorporate support for Intel's new Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) technology. This tech is very similar to Nvidia's DLSS technology in that it uses machine learning to provide users with better performance and potentially better image quality than if they just ran the game at native resolutions.

It will be interesting to see how DLSS compares to XeSS. The original PC release of Death Stranding included DLSS support. If the Director's Cut includes both DLSS and XeSS support it will make for a very interesting direct comparison between these two similar technologies.

Death Stranding Director's Cut also includes support for high frame rates, will include a photo mode, and will also support ultra-wide monitor resolutions. There will also be cross-over content from Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077. These are in addition to some of the other Director's Cut bonuses like the ability to build ramps to jump your bike off of, a racetrack, new story missions, and a few new areas to explore.

Developed by Kojima Productions, DEATH STRANDING was one of the most anticipated projects of the last decade. Starring Norman Reedus as Sam Bridges, the game takes place in the near future, where mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam to journey across the ravaged wasteland to save mankind from impending annihilation.

The groundbreaking experience from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima also features the acting and voice talents of Mads Mikkelsen and Léa Seydoux.
