The small team at Stray Bombay just announced an Early Access release date for their sci-fi four-player co-op FPS, The Anacrusis. That date is none other than January 13, 2022. The game will be released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S as an Early Access and Game Preview title at that time.
The Anacrusis will have a simultaneous launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox. The studio says that the game will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass (formerly Xbox Game Pass for PC).
This Early Access release will serve as "season zero" for the game. It will introduce the first act of the story, first batch of alien enemies, and a "wide selection" of weapons, gear, and player perks.
In The Anacrusis, players will explore The Isolode, a giant stranded luxury starship that is just full of mean aliens. Similar to games like Left 4 Dead, The Anacrusis will task players with trying to survive through tons of enemies using "vintage sci-fi inspired weapons, quirky offensive gear, and discovered perks." The game utilizes something called Director 2.0 to determine when and where the action will ramp up.
Stray Bombay was co-founded by Chet Faliszek, who used to work at Valve. He helped create the storylines for Half-Life, Portal, and Left 4 Dead. So, if you notice the similarities between this game and Left 4 Dead, there's a good reason for it.
