A new PlatinumGames offering was shown off during Square Enix's E3 showing yesterday. It's called Babylon's Fall and it's a live service, co-op action title where players take on the role of fierce warriors known as sentinels.
Babylon's Fall is coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Though no release date was given for the title, Square Enix says that there will be a series of closed beta tests leading up to the launch of the game. Those who are interested in trying out the beta tests can do so at the Babylon's Fall website.
The game will allow up to four people to join together on the action. It will also feature "a range of post launch game modes at no additional cost." More details on that whole live service thing will be revealed throughout the year.
In BABYLON’S FALL players become a group of warriors known as the sentinels, bonded with special equipment called Gideon Coffins, and throw themselves into an odyssey to overcome the titanic Tower of Babylon, within which sleeps a great legacy. In addition to weapons wielded in both hands, characters can use the power of their Gideon Coffin to equip two more, allowing for combinations of up to four weapons at once. The capabilities of different equipment will also bring endless variation to the strategy that can be employed. The game’s visuals are achieved using a newly developed “brushwork style” to create a unique fantasy setting with a medieval oil painting aesthetic.
