The Medium concept art

The third-person psychological horror game, The Medium, has been given a release date of December 10, 2020 today. The game will be one of the first titles for the Xbox Series X|S in addition to coming to the PC. In fact, pre-orders are now live for the game on Steam, Epic Games Store (affiliate link), and the Microsoft Store.

On top of this release date announcement is a new trailer for the game. The new trailer offers a closer look at the dual-reality world, including a look at the art style that is inspired by Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksiński. Seriously, he's got a real creepy art style that seems like it's a perfect fit for this game or horror games in general. Accompaning the art style is a score from Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka. You may recognize Yamaoka's name from his work on the Silent Hill series.

A few pieces of concept art that are inspired by Beksiński's art style can be seen throughout this news post. On top of this and the trailer (seen below), there is also a new track from Reikowski that can be downloaded. You can find this over at Steam.

Pre-orders for the game are priced at $49.99 (USD) with a 10% discount for those that purchase before December 10th on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.

The Medium gives players access to two visually distinct worlds simultaneously – the real world and the spirit world through dual-reality gameplay that has been patented by Bloober Team. Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across the two worlds through her psychic energy.
