Mike Laidlaw, the Creative Director for the Dragon Age series, announced today that he is leaving BioWare. Laidlaw has spent 14 years with the company, offering his talents to games and franchises that include Jade Empire and, of course, Dragon Age.

As for the next Dragon Age game? Well, things aren't looking too great. The last official word was that the game was in some very early stages of development. With Laidlaw parting ways, the future of the franchise comes into question. It also doesn't help matters that a number of Dragon Age related job postings have disappeared from the BioWare website.

We certainly wish the best to Laidlaw in his future endeavors.
