In a week of leaks, we have another one for you today. News about the release and content coming in the Destiny: Rise of Iron expansion came just a day ahead of its official reveal. This is thanks to some jumping of the gun today by both the Destiny website and the Xbox Marketplace.

In the above image you'll notice the big box that says "Watch Rise of Iron Trailer" with some information below it. The information specifies a September 20 release date for this expansion along with the fact that it omits mentioning the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It certainly seems to indicate that the focus is shifting to current-gen consoles only for Destiny, a move that is long overdue.

The Xbox Marketplace spilled the beans on the content that is coming in this expansion.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.

    Includes:
    • New Story Campaign & Quests
    • New Armour and Gear
    • New Weapons
    • New Raid
    • Maximum Light Increase
    • New Strike
    • New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space
    • New Crucible Mode & Maps
    • New Enemy Faction and Bosses

Pricing has not yet been revealed for this expansion. If historical data is anything to go on, don't expect to see this for anything less than $40 (USD).

Like the first game, we're left wanting more.

When Destiny first launched in late 2014, it was something special, almost magical. Bungie and Activision created a new franchise that let players explore parts of our Solar System from their couches, forge new friendships, take down massive enemies, and feel akin to comic book superheroes. However, that game was not without its faults. At launch, the game lacked much in the way of in-game story, opting instead to send the...
