  • Rumor: Next Destiny DLC The Taken King Dated for September 15 and Priced at $40

Kotaku has the latest rumor concerning the still unannounced next expansion or DLC for Destiny. We previously saw Red Bull spill the beans on the name of the DLC, The Taken King, but now a source has added in a few additional details.

According to the source, the new expansion will be released on September 15, 2015 and will be priced at $40 (USD). Yes, $40. What are you expected to get at that seemingly insane price tag? So far, not much.

The rumor says that this expansion will offer up a new subclass for each of the game's three main classes. This will round out the abilities for each class so that each one now has the elemental power they were lacking previously. In addition, there will be new Strikes, new PvP maps, and a new raid that has you going against Oryx, father of Crota, as he leads a new group of enemies called the Taken in a quest for revenge. You did kind of kill his son in the first DLC raid.

Other than that? Who knows. Nobody knows yet just how many new missions or strikes will be included. Considering that the first two expansions for Destiny were $40 combined, this price tag on a single upcoming expansion may be a bit too big of a pill for some to swallow.

However, that game was not without its faults. At launch, the game lacked much in the way of in-game story, opting instead to send the...
