Next Friday at The Game Awards 2014, Hideo Kojima will show off the world premiere look at Metal Gear Online. There isn't too much to go on right now outside of a Tweet made by Geoff Keighley about the premiere.
Metal Gear Online is the upcoming (competitive) component for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Metal Gear Online initially launched with the PlayStation 3 game Metal Gear Solid IV. It featured competitive game modes for up to 16 players. The Game Awards will be aired live online through various outlets and through your console of choice on December 5.

From what i understand this is fairly different from that original mode, Solo attacking other people's Outer Heaven's and stealing their stuff, but maybe there are more standard modes aswell.
