We got ourselves another look at Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 today during the Nintendo Direct. Today's new trailer includes some new gameplay footage along with details about release platforms and release date.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be out on October 24, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

This collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and "much more bonus content." Based on the previously released art for the collection, some of that bonus content includes the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Snake's Revenge, the Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 digital graphic novels, and Metal Gear Solid digital soundtrack.

This collection looks to simply include straight ports of the original games, though some will make use of the versions found in the previously released HD Collection. Do not expect any substantial changes to the look or feel of any of these titles in Vol. 1. It would honestly be a shock if you can change the internal render resolution of these games on the PC release.

Assuming Vol. 1 does well, you can probably expect Vol. 2 somewhere down the line. There has already been a lot of speculation as to which titles may appear in Vol. 2 if there is ever one released. Some suggestions include titles such as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and even Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. One thing that does seem to be widely agreed upon is that the chances of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots being included in a Vol. 2 release are slim to none. Metal Gear Solid 4 has never appeared on any platform outside of the PlayStation 3. To port that game to other platforms would require a massive undertaking on Konami's part and most just do not see that ever happening.

For their part, Konami is at least getting ready a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 that they're calling Metal Gear Solid Δ (Delta): Snake Eater. This was announced at a recent PlayStation Showcase. Metal Gear Solid Δ is currently planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
