Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

  • Twitch Moves Forward on Plan to Limit 70/30 Revenue Split to First $100K Earned

This move comes months after staying firm in a 50/50 split.

In late September 2022, Twitch announced that they are not going to budge on a policy change that would let Twitch partners earn more than 50% on all subscriptions. For a long while, several Twitch partners were earning a 70/30 split, which let them pull in 70% of all user subscriptions, while everyone else earned the base 50%.

At the time, Twitch streamers and viewers signed a petition pushing for a 70/30 split...

Major Steam Client Update Leaves Beta

Over a month of beta testing later, the update is ready for prime time.

In late April, Valve pushed out a beta update for the Steam client. This update was far more extensive than mere bug fixes or tiny tweaks here and there. This update has just left beta and is out for everyone using Steam.

First and foremost, Steam is now using a new and updated framework. A lot of this won't be visible to the end user, but it allows Valve to more easily share code between the desktop...

Cary Elwes and Christopher Lloyd Join Idris Elba in Sonic Spinoff Series

The Knuckles series is getting even more substantial star power.

Paramount+ and Sega are really going whole (hedge)hog on the casting for its upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series, Knuckles. We already know that Idris Elba is voicing Knuckles, just as he did for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Now, we're hearing that Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, The Addams Family, Who Framed Roger Rabbit) are joining...

  • Rockstar Locks Several Cars Behind Paywall, Removes Dozens More from GTA Online

A new update with new problems? Shocking.

On June 13th, Rockstar Games released a new update for GTA Online called San Andreas Mercenaries. This free content drop adds in new missions and a decent amount of quality-of-life improvements for all GTA Online players.

This update also just happened to remove over 180 cars and motorcycles from the in-game storefronts. As Kotaku reports, several of these cut cars have been placed behind the GTA+ paywall. GTA+ being a $6 per month...

Three Overwatch 2 Story Missions to Cost $15

Overwatch 2: Invasion is the start of the story content for Overwatch 2, but it comes with a price.

The PvE story content for Overwatch 2 was always going to have some charge associated with it. The plan was to have the PvE content cost a base fee for a full story campaign while the multiplayer remained free. "Free" if you ignore the cosmetic microtransactions, of course.

Then came the news that Blizzard scrapped their PvE Hero content for Overwatch 2. At least,...

  • Metal: Hellsinger's New DLC Pack is Decidedly Not Very Metal

Metal: Hellsinger's New DLC Pack is Decidedly Not Very Metal

Nothing says metal quite like Paramore's Misery Business.

Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm game where you slay demons of hell to the beat of some pulse-pounding heavy metal songs. Right? Right. It featured artists like Serj Tankian from System of a Down, Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer, Matt Heafy from Trivium, and many more heavy metal heavy hitters. The songs they all performed were written for and created specifically for Metal: Hellsinger.

    The newly released Essential Hits...

Meaty Final Fantasy 16 Demo Available on PS5

Progress will carry over to the full game.

Square Enix released a demo for Final Fantasy 16, their upcoming action-RPG. This demo, playable right now on PlayStation 5, will let you play through some rather meaty chunks of the game. There is the opening prologue sequence and a separate action focused mission.

The prologue segment is heavy on the story, which is probably to be expected. It's a couple of hours in length and will let you carry over your progress to the full...

High on Knife Announced by Squanch Games

This newly announced DLC is high on new content and low on Justin Roiland.

Squanch Games just announced the first DLC for High on Life. This new DLC, aptly named High on Knife will give Knifey a chance to stab until he can stab no more.

If you recall, we gave the base game of High on Life some rather high praise in our review. It ended up being quite the surprise hit, ending up as a top seller on Steam and apparently the biggest third-party and single-player Game Pass...

Capcom Showcase Recap - Dragon's Dogma 2, Exoprimal, Pragmata

    The Capcom showcase was... interesting.
Yesterday, Capcom held their Capcom Showcase. Running at a bit over half an hour, the show included quick hits of news for a few existing and upcoming titles. It even included an indefinitely delay announcement for Pragmata, a game that was first announced in 2020 and has been delayed several times already. As with these other recap posts, I'll be sure to put up separate news posts about some of these titles if there is something worth posting. Fo...

Payday 3 Dated for September Release

Payday 3 is another title that was shown off over the weekend at one of the various shows that took place. I cannot remember exactly which one because they have all blurred together in my mind at this point. Oh wait, the press release says it showed up at the Xbox Games Showcase, so there we go.

Anyway, Payday 3 is taking players to New York City. It is on the streets of the Big Apple that the Payday gang of Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf, and Chains...

  • Poll: What is 2024's Biggest Gaming Disappointment So Far?
    by Shawn Zipay
    It's AAAA vs WB.

March isn't even over yet and we've already seen a couple of stinkers come out from major gaming studios. While we tend to focus on the surprise hits or quality titles in these polls, this time it's a little bit different.

Between the Rocksteady developed live-service Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the "AAAA" quality Ubisoft developed Skull and Bones: Which is the bigger disappointment for you?
