Valve Finally Shows Off New Steam UI Overhaul

An update to the Steam user interface and library has been in the works at Valve for years now. Today, the company finally feels comfortable enough to show off their Steam UI overhaul and did just that during a presentation at GDC 2019. I'd like to first thank Game Informer and PC Gamer (and again) for a lot of the information and screenshots you'll see below.

Library
First up, let's talk about the changes coming to how your Library will look and function with this new update. The Friends list is now integrated into a column on the right side. No idea if this is an optional...

The Outer Worlds, Remedy's Control, Detroit: Become Human, and More Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusives

As part of today's GDC presentation, Epic Games announced a number of timed exclusives that are coming first to the Epic Games Store. Among these games are The Outer Worlds, Control from Remedy Entertainment, and even some PlayStation 4 exclusives like Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream.

Some of these titles, such as The Outer Worlds, will also appear on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. I guess this just lends more confirmation that Epic is less about purchasing exclusives and more about simply paying companies to keep their games off of Steam. Consumers should not...

System Shock 3 GDC Teaser

As part of the Unity keynote at GDC 2019, a new teaser trailer for System Shock 3 was shown off. I suppose that also confirms that System Shock 3 is being built on Unity. I think that was already known prior to this? Perhaps not.

The game is currently in development from OtherSide Entertainment. A release date for the horror title is not yet known. ...

Nvidia Announces Real-time Ray Tracing for Older GTX Cards

Nvidia just announced today that they are bringing real-time ray tracing to their GTX lineup of cards. This support will begin with a driver update currently slated for some time in April.

Get ready to have your framerates destroyed. Think about it this way: Nvidia's RTX cards have special hardware that is dedicated to handling the load of real-time ray tracing. Even with this special hardware, enabling real-time ray tracing still destroys framerates on these new cards.

Now they're going to add support for it on to their older cards? It will certainly make your...

Epic Games Launcher Allegedly Scrapes Local Steam Data Prior to Granting Consent, Epic Responds

Earlier today, Reddit user PhoenixPoint and ResetEra member Madjoki found out that the Epic Games Launcher may be collecting your Steam history at startup. As part of their investigation, they found that at startup, the Epic Games Launcher searches your local computer for a Steam install. If it finds that Steam is installed, it then apparently proceeds to pull a list of files typically stored in your Steam Cloud. This data includes game saves for all users that have logged in to Steam on your computer.

Madjoki also found that it pulls a list of your Steam friends and their name history....

  • 2B from Nier: Automata Coming to Soulcalibur 6

2B from Nier: Automata Coming to Soulcalibur 6

It was revealed today that 2B from Nier: Automata is joining the fighting roster for Soulcalibur VI. The trailer, seen below, reveals that a lot of her combat abilities and moves have been successfully brought over to the combat arena. She has a lot of sword moves and even some blasts from her floating turret.

In addition, it seems as though there may be some additional Nier: Automata goodies coming to Soulcalibur 6 in addition to 2B. The end of the trailer seems to give a little hint of this. I am going to assume this means either a Nier themed stage, additional costumes, or perhaps we'll even see 9S? Who knows!

    Ther...

Twitch Announces New Features at TwitchCon 2018 Keynote

TwichCon 2018 officially kicked off today with a keynote presentation by CEO Emmett Shear. During the presentation, the company revealed a bunch of neat little statistics. More importantly, however, is the fact that they also revealed a bunch of new features coming "soon" to the Twitch platform.

Let's just get the statistic stuff out of the way first.

Get the First Look at Sean Bean in HITMAN 2

We already saw the real life Sean Bean promoting his appearance in HITMAN 2, but we have yet to see the digital version of him. At least we haven't seen him until right now.

As a little reminder, Sean Bean assumes the role of Mark Faba, the first elusive target that Agent 47 is going after in HITMAN 2.

My Hero One's Justice Released Today on Consoles and PC

If you aren't in the mood for some Wild West action today, you may be interested instead in picking up My Hero One's Justice from Bandai Namco. The game, out today for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam is based off of the "hit weekly Shonen Jump manga and anime series." From what I gather, this game focuses on action, complete with various super powers, and squad abilities.

Just Cause 4 "4K Panoramic Trailer" Released Today

Square Enix released a new 4K trailer for Just Cause 4 today. Not only is it in 4K, but it's also a panoramic trailer that is tailor made for those with ultra-widescreen displays. It was made for Paris Games Week, which is apparently going on right now.

The new trailer shows off a little look at the South American inspired island of Solis. The video, seen below, looks a lot like the image at the top, only much larger. Obviously.
Thanks to the amazingly powerful, new Apex Engine, Just Cause has never looked better. Avalanche Studios have taken the series signature destruction and incredible physics to a whole new level with the

  • Indie Game Red Dead Redemption 2 Released Today

Indie Game Red Dead Redemption 2 Released Today

A little game called Red Dead Redemption 2 was released today for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. The game was developed by a little studio called Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two. I'm sure we can all appreciate that a company like Take-Two extended a hand to these up and coming developers.
An epic tale of honor and loyalty set in the dying days of the outlaw age, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. Following a botched robbery in the western town of Blackwater, the gang are forced to flee and

  • Alan Wake Returns to Steam Where You Can Get it for Just $3

Alan Wake Returns to Steam Where You Can Get it for Just $3

Alan Wake is finally back on Steam. Remedy made the big announcement earlier today via Twitter. The company notes that Microsoft even helped them out when it came to renegotiating the rights to the licensed music that resulted in the game getting pulled in the first place.

The return to Steam is met with a massive sale that drops the price to just $3 (USD). Even if you aren't a huge fan of the genre, you kind of shouldn't pass this up for just 3 bucks. I largely didn't like Alan Wake but even I'm telling you it's a steal at $3.

This sale price won't last forever though. You have until November 1 to pick Alan Wake on Steam for $3. You can also...

Bandai Namco announced and confirmed a February 15, 2019 release date for Jump Force today. That's... that's pretty much it. You don't have to keep reading, but you can if you want.

Well, I do suppose there is a new trailer to check out today. This new trailer shows off the newly revealed Paris stage along with two new characters; Ryo from City hunter and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2018 Event Begins After Buggy Start

Earlier today, the Fortnitemares event for Fortnite officially kicked off. It then immediately got pulled for a little while. Apparently, today's update had some issues with a degradation in performance, disconnects, the inability to complete certain challenges, and server hitches.

    Big yikes.

Fortunately, Epic Games worked quickly to iron out these issues and re-released the Fortnitemares event to the masses. Fortnitemares was released alongside the Fortnite 6.20 update, which brings about the usual slew of improvements, changes, and new content. Fortunately, the Fortnitemares event includes new content for both the Battle Royale mode and the Save the World campaign. Just a reminder here that free-to-pla...
