  • Battlefield 6 Updates Incoming to Fix Absurd Challenges, Weapons, and Visibility

And a possible shadowdrop for battle royale?
Art saying that the content below is for community update notes for Battlefield 6.

Battlefield Studios just shared a significant number of changes that were either just implemented into Battlefield 6 or will be implemented soon. The areas that they're focusing on for improvements include weapon dispersion, balance, visibility, aim assist, progression, and more.

The team once again shared word about some of the changes that were pushed to live already. These changes include adjustments to custom search, a fix for the vehicle spawn bug on some maps in some modes, and changes to the XP earned in Portal servers.

It's the upcoming changes that players are probably more excited about. Battlefield Studios is still working on some tweaks to player movement, especially in cases where movement felt inconsistent. They are also working to enhance "sight stability by minimizing reticle movement during specific animations." They hope that these adjustments will "deliver a smoother and more precise aiming experience, all while preserving an immersive first-person feel."

The biggest changes seem to be on how progression will be handled. We already saw increases made to XP gains for rounds played. Now, Battlefield Studios is increasing the amount of XP earned in King of the Hill and Escalation. These modes will see significant increases to XP payout to "bring them in line with other modes."

Furthermore, Battlefield Studios will drastically scale back some of those absolutely absurd class challenges. These changes will be implemented over the next two updates due to "the scale of the challenges." They shared a few examples of just how much more manageable they're making some of these challenges.

    • Class Assignment - Assault 1 - Get kills while using the Adrenaline Injector - 30 to 3
    • Class Assignment - Engineer Expert 3 - Repair Vehicles in a Match - From 6000 to 1000
    • Weapon Assignment - Deadeye 2 - Get headshot kills over 200m with Sniper Rifles - from 150 to 5
      • In addition, a later game update will reduce the 200m distance
I'm sure every player out there is breathing a huge sigh of relief at these changes, especially the one for the Assault's use of the Adrenaline Injector.

Continuing on, Battlefield Studios is also aware that there are issues with visibility in the game. Specifically, they say they are looking to improve areas where players are blinded by the lighting when looking through the windows when inside of a building. Conversely, they're also working on fixing the opposite effect where looking into a building from the outside made the interiors look overly dark. They are also working on adjustments to fix a lack of visability on some weapon optics when zooming in.

These visibility adjustments are just a small part of a "wider pass" that focuses on improving visibility. These changes to visibility won't be completed until later in Season 1.

As part of the October 28th update, Battlefield Studios will have several adjustments on how weapon dispersion behaves.

These changes are aimed at ensuring each weapon’s accuracy better reflects its intended performance over range. We’ve also fixed a bug that caused dispersion to not decrease as expected when transitioning from sprinting to a prone position.
A tuning pass on weapons is also coming. In an effort to "make your shots feel more consistent and rewarding," Battlefield Studios will make some adjustments to weapon accuracy to make your shots "feel more consistent and rewarding across all weapon types." They will also fix a couple of bugs with post-spring firing and dispersion when first starting to move.

Burst-firing will remain the most effective way to control a weapon, and each weapon will still perform best within its intended range. We’ve also identified a couple of bugs that caused weapons to feel less accurate than intended:
    • Post-Sprint Firing: Weapons fired immediately after sprinting while zoomed could retain higher dispersion, reducing accuracy.
    • Movement Start: Dispersion was increasing faster than it should when players began moving, making even small adjustments unexpectedly impact precision. This was especially noticeable on controllers.
Battlefield Studios closes out this news brief by talking about some of the things they've learned from Battlefield Labs when it comes to the upcoming Battle Royale mode.

    • Close-range TTK: We’ve adjusted time-to-kill at close range for all weapons to reward clean positioning and tracking while giving players more time to counter attacks. We’ll keep monitoring this once it’s live.
    • Armor Changes: Everyone will now have the capacity for 2 armor plates at the start of the game. All players will spawn with 1 plate, so you will have the chance to upgrade as soon as you start looting, giving everyone an equal chance at upgrading their armor fully.
    • World Improvements: We’ve been fixing pesky world bugs and optimizing areas to improve the environment. With these improvements, we made adjustments to the lighting as well as enhancing the visibility across the map.
    • Vehicle Balance: We’ve adjusted the balance for helicopters and combat vehicles to keep them as powerful tools showing off Battlefield’s core DNA, without making them necessary to survive or win the late game. This includes significant adjustments to the heli countermeasures and ammo economy.
That said, there will be a small hiatus for Battlefield Labs testing for a bit. Battlefield Studios is prioritizing the release of Season 1 content and a notice will go out to players when Battlefield Labs is set to return.

Finally, we'll wrap this up with a Battlefield 6 rumor that popped up just today. Apparently, the Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6 is going to shadowdrop on October 28th, the same day that Season 1 kicks off. According to some supposed insiders, there will be no official trailers or announcements prior to the release.

According to these same rumors, the battle royale will be named Battlefield: RedSec and will be free-to-play.
