Nightdive Studios announced that their "faithful recreation" of the 1994 sci-fi classic, System Shock, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Unfortunately, a firm release date was not shared but they did note that it will be coming "later this year." Given that there isn't much of "this year" remaining, you can probably expect to see it within a couple of months.
This is the same System Shock remake that hit PCs in 2023 and non-Switch consoles in 2024.
The Switch 2 version in particular will include support for the mouse functionality of the Joy-Con 2. The Switch 2 will also support 1080p and 60FPS. Both Switch devices will offer gyro aiming and "various community-requested features."
The System Shock remake combines the gameplay of the original title with HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and new sounds and music. A legion of hostile and mutated creatures — created and controlled by the delightfully villainous SHODAN — await players as they make their way through Citadel Station. Players will also encounter traps, puzzles, and secrets in their pursuit of escape. A combination of stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry will be required to survive.
During development, Nightdive Studios worked closely with many of the original System Shock team members, including Terri Brosius, the original voice of one of gaming’s most iconic villains: SHODAN.
