  • EA and DICE Are Considering Early Access for Future Battlefield Games

EA and DICE are considering starting up an Early Access program for future Battlefield titles. Game Informer spoke briefly with Karl Magnus Troedsson from DICE in which he expressed his interest in the program.
"We have nothing to announce, but we are having discussions when it comes to [early access]. It comes not from a business perspective, but more from a perspective of if it would help us have a stable launch of the game."

"We would ask our players in a controlled way. We probably wouldn't open the floodgates for everyone, but we might do it for geographical territories or people who bought the last game. Yes, it is something we are considering, not from a business standpoint, but from one of creating quality in our products."

Most fans would probably agree that they actually already started this program with the launch of Battlefield 4.

      Nope.

I like how they keep saying "business standpoint" because if you say enough, its true.

They pretty much already do this with expansion packs for premium people. They may as well let the entire game come early to premium people. =/

Having the public pay you to test your game obviously isn't beneficial "from a business standpoint".

Yes it is. I can't possibly think of any better advantage than to have your customers take on quality assurance duties AND pay you to do so. You can now basically layoff the majority of your QA staff, and keep a test lead or two to compile all the collected bug reports. So now you have QA covered, no salaries to pay out, AND somehow make money without even selling the game! How is that not the best case scenario? It's not like there's enough customers abandoning EA/DICE to change their minds.

Edit: Wait, did your sarcasm fly by my head? I'm terrible at catching sarcasm through text.

Only Premium members who have pre-ordered the game are allowed in this closed Beta test.

      Thats such "Male cow manure"!!

And what do you get for your time. Some indifferent in-game contant which you probably wont even use. We want cash discount on future titles.
