Industry insider and Giant Bomb member Jeff Grubb, made a somewhat cryptic statement earlier today during the Kinda Funny Gamescast. At one point during the show, Grubb says that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will not be at the Xbox Games Showcase but that Dragon Age will be.
Specifically, Grubb said that "Dragon Age: Dreadwolf won't be at the Microsoft show. Dragon Age, though, will be." Fans initially took this statement to mean that while we weren't going to get a new look at Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, we might see something like a Dragon Age remaster or remake.
Grubb attempted to clarify his initial statement by saying, "It's not a DA1 remake. It's just not 'Dreadwolf.'" This led to some people suggesting Grubb was alluding to some new Dragon Age tie-in content such as a new TV show or other form of media.
Sadly for all of the remake, remaster, and tie-in believers the truth is far less exciting.
Jason Schreier from Bloomberg News straight up cleared the air on Grubb's cryptic messaging. In a post made to ResetEra, Schreier says that "the rumor he's alluding to is a name change for DA4, not a different game." What that new name might be is anybody's best guess right now. Obviously the new name was not shared by Grubb, Schreier, or any other so-called insider.
If you want to know what the new name for Dragon Age 4 will be, I guess we're just going to have to keep an eye on the Xbox Games Showcase. That event will air on Sunday, June 9 at 1PM (ET). If Dragon Age 4 is actually shown off at the event, this will be the first new look at the game since a small bit of information was shared back in December 2023.
