A demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available right now for PlayStation 5 owners. This free demo allows you to explore some of the opening areas of the game's main story, Nibelheim. After an update set to arrive on February 21, 2024, the Junon area episode will be made available in the demo and will be accessible once you complete the Nibelheim content.
Square Enix is also offering some bonuses for the full game for those that have save data from this demo. Those items include a Kupo charm and Survival set.
The “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo features an extended flashback section, as Cloud Strife recalls an earlier mission in his career as a SOLDIER – “the Nibelheim incident.” This mission takes place five years ago prior to the setting of the game. Take control of a younger version of main protagonist Cloud Strife and the legendary Sephiroth as the two SOLDIER heroes investigate the sudden appearance of monsters in the mountains above Cloud’s hometown. When a dark truth comes to light, the course of their lives and the fate of the planet will change forever.

While the Junon section progress will not carry over to the main game, progress within the Nibelheim section will carry over to the main game. Should you complete Nibelheim within the demo you will be allowed to skip that portion once Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is fully released.
