Remedy needs a little breathing room from other games.

Remedy just announced that they delayed Alan Wake 2 by 10 days in order to make a little breathing room between it and other games. Alan Wake 2 was due to be released on October 17, but will now be out on October 27.

As usual, the end of the year is packed with hot new game releases, so this shift in release date makes a lot of sense. Remedy says, "October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games."

Alan Wake 2's original release of the 17th did put it in the same week as Insomniac's Spider-Man 2. Remedy probably wanted to avoid that kind of heat, especially after the original Alan Wake released in 2010 in the same week that Red Dead Redemption came out.

October 2023 will also see releases for Forza Motorsport, Assassin's Creed Mirage, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and more.

Alan Wake 2 and its new October 27 release will be a digital only release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store only. The console versions are $59.99 (USD) and PC is $49.99.
