Some fresh news about Alan Wake 2 to share with you this weekend. Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games released a new gameplay video for the upcoming psychological thriller.

The new gameplay footage is from an early mission of the game called The Heart. You get a look at Saga Anderson, an FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases. They arrive to investigate a murder in the small town of Bright Falls. Remedy says that Anderson's case "spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true and questions how it may be connected to missing writer Alan Wake."

Agent Anderson is played by Melanie Liburd. Liburd has starred in and had roles in This is Us, Bad Boys 4, and Game of Thrones.

Alan Wake 2 pushes players into a psychological horror story from the perspective of two playable characters. Saga Anderson risks her life to solve a deadly mystery of murders in the Pacific Northwest while Alan Wake attempts to rewrite his reality to escape the depths of the Dark Place, a nightmare version of New York City.

Taking full advantage of the power of current consoles and PC, and driven by Remedy Entertainment’s proprietary Northlight engine, players will take on powerful supernatural enemies in desperate situations filled with intense suspense and unexpected twists. Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected at heart in ways neither of them can understand.
Other notable Alan Wake news was shared this weekend. Alan Wake 2: Building a World of Fear will be presented during the Tribeca Games Festival in New York City on June 13 at 8PM. This special event will pair Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) with Remedy's Sam Lake. The two will talk about Alan Wake 2 and take a deep dive "into the influences of the upcoming game and explore what drives fear in interactive storytelling."

Easily, the best horror game in years.

In 2010 Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake, a game where a writer is pulled into a horrifying world seemingly of his own creation. Alan Wake was a game that I bounced off at least two times. Despite the game being well received by critics and fans, I felt like its gameplay was just a repetitive slog that even its unique story could not overcome. When a sequel was announced by Remedy, I found myself extremely indifferent to the news. Still...

      Alan Wake teases more platforms.

Remedy Entertainment has regained the publishing rights to the Alan Wake franchise from Microsoft.

The development studio is currently working on Control, but they apparently found a bit of time to acquire the rights to the horror-action romp starring an author. The company told investors that they would earn €2.5 million on royalties for "previously released games" this fiscal year.
