  • Bungie Disables Heavy Grenade Launchers After Players Discover Damage Bug

Heavy grenade launchers are off the menu for this weekend's raid.

Just yesterday, Bungie released Season of Plunder for Destiny 2. The space pirate themed season has been a fair bit of fun thus far, but it's also had its fair share of issues right from the get-go.

Before it was even obtainable, Bungie noted that they have disabled the new Titan exotic armor, Point-Contract Cannon Brace. No specific reason for it being disabled was provided. There's also no way for any fan to do their own testing to see why it was broken because, again, it was disabled before it was even able to be obtained.

This was just one of a handful of known issues Bungie noted in the time leading up to the start of the new season yesterday.

Today, Bungie had to disable even more content due to issues that have popped up following the start of the new Season of Plunder. A handful of Heavy Grenade Launchers have been disabled due to them doing higher than intended damage. Bungie says that all non-sunset Heavy Grenade Launchers have been disabled excluding: Salvation's Grip, Parasite, and uncommon rarity launchers.

The new season launched alongside a new patch that included what was supposed to be a reasonable 10% damage buff over the previous season. Some users quickly found that some Heavy Grenade Launchers were instead doing 150% or more.

Disabling content like this without a fix ready to go does kind of suck. However, until a fix can be found, developed, and released (which can take time), it's just easier to disable these items. There is also a world's first raid coming up this weekend when King's Fall drops on Friday and having certain pieces of gear be super broken really isn't something either Bungie nor the community want.

Marty O'Donnell, the composer that crafted the iconic soundtracks for games like the Halo franchise and parts of Destiny, has won his legal battle against Bungie. Today's ruling by a court-appointed arbitrator says that Bungie must honor its agreements made with O'Donnell that gave him the right to hold a "considerable share of stock in the company." Today's ruling also sheds some light on what O'Donnel, Activision, and Bungie all went through during the development of Destiny. How...

      by Shawn Zipay
Parsons was with Bungie since the days of Halo.

The CEO of Bungie, Pete Parsons, is leaving his position and the company after a 23 year run. Long-time Bungie staffer, Justin Truman, will take over for Parsons.

Parsons joined Bungie in 2002 and was the executive producer on Halo 2. He took over as the CEO at Bungie in 2016 after Harold Ryan left. Parsons led the charge in Bungie's split from Activision in 2019. In the years that followed, the studio had a number of highs...

Bungie Once Again Caught Stealing Art
      by Shawn Zipay
For at least the fourth time...

Bungie admitted that they have yet again stolen artwork from someone. Earlier this week, an artist that first published their work back in 2017 shared how Bungie very clearly used several pieces of their art in current builds of Marathon, their upcoming extraction shooter.

The artist at the heart of this is Fern Hook, an independent artist in Scotland. Hook, better known by their online moniker of ANTIREAL, posted several comparisons of...
