A new custom controller just hit the market.
HexGaming passed along word today that they are releasing new, custom eSports focused PlayStation 5 controllers. Their latest is the Hex Rival Pro and it can be yours from either HexGaming or Amazon for the princely sum of $199.99 (USD). Don't worry, there is a more expensive option available that adds in rubberized grips and something called "FlashShot" for just $289.99.
According to HexGaming, the Hex Rival Pro is fully modular. It is made from authentic PlayStation 5 controllers that have been "customized specifically for tactical eSports gamers." They say that they're the "most comfortable eSports controller" available, but we cannot personally verify this claim.
The modularity includes 3 different thumbstick height options and 2 different thumb grip designs. In addition to being fully modular, the controllers also allow you to remap the extra rear buttons to any of the 15 native buttons on regular controllers (X, O, triangle, square, up, down, left, right, L1/L2, R1/R2, L3/R3, & touchpad).
Interestingly, despite the price tags on the controllers, they do not include any cables or other accessories like a wireless connector dongle.

by Shawn ZipayThe already stellar HexGaming Phantom now has a Hall Effect option.
In June 2024, I wrote a review for the Phantom, a then upcoming premium PlayStation 5 controller from HexGaming. My review of the HexGaming Phantom was almost universally glowing. I praised the controller for building off the already solid foundation of the PlayStation 5 DualSense while also adding new features that made a lot of sense. The features and quality improvements were things that made sense and, in my...-

by Shawn ZipayIn a market full of premium controllers, the Phantom manages to come out on top.
The PlayStation 5 DualSense is arguably one of the best first-party controllers to ever exist. This base PS5 controller already features amazing haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion controls, a touch pad, and a tried-and-true design that fits comfortably in most everyone's hands. Sony essentially combined some of the best features of the previous-generation PlayStation controllers and then added...-

by Shawn ZipayHexGaming addresses one of the minor gripes I had with the non-Pro variant.
A few months back, HexGaming announced and released the Phantom PlayStation 5 controller. In my review of the Phantom controller, I thought it was a fantastic device save for a couple of "wishlist" items that would elevate it to perfection.
One of those wishlist items was Hall effect analog sticks. While HexGaming's solution was a smart one, it still would have been great to see Hall...-
