Mojang is no stranger to trying new things with the Minecraft franchise. There are novels, children's books, merchandise, and all matter of games. In 2020, Mojang released Minecraft Dungeons which brought some Diablo-style dungeon crawling to fans and was a release that seems to have been well-received by players and critics alike.
This past week, Mojang revealed another new entry in the Minecraft franchise. Minecraft Legends is the latest new game announced. This one will be a real-time action strategy title and is in development by Mojang and Blackbird Interactive. Blackbird Interactive is made up of former devs from Relic and EA Canada. The team have helped to develop the Homeworld titles and are also presently working on Homeworld 3.
Players will build up an army of allies to do battle in order to defend the Overworld. Players will do battle against a piglin invasion to try to prevent a corruption from spreading across the lands.
Minecraft Legends is set to be released in 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and day one on Game Pass.
