In November 2021, IO Interactive offered some insight as to what Hitman 3 should expect to see throughout the game's second year of existence. Some new additions in the second year of content included the addition of a new mode, Freelancer, raytracing support on PC, and more.
Today, that roadmap got shuffled around a little bit. First off, the new mode called Freelancer is being pushed out of a spring release window. Freelancer will now be out some time in the second half of 2022, which means that other planned content is being shuffled around a bit. A patch that IO planned to have out in April will now be introduced starting with an update coming out on May 24.
The shift to Freelancer means that they are also adding in a few more rounds of Featured Contracts than they typically release over the course of a month.
One thing that isn't getting delayed is the release of the new map, Ambrose Island (previously "Rocky"). This map was first revealed back in January and will now be released in July 2022, which is a bit ahead of schedule. This map takes place before the events of Hitman 3 "and fills a few gaps from the World of Assassination storyline."
The update coming on May 24 will add in ray tracing to the PC release of Hitman 3.

- HITMAN 3: Freelancer is the next evolution of Hitman and an entirely new way to engage with the world and characters that IO Interactive built into the World of Assassination over the last 7 years. The team is now aiming to release the Freelancer in the second half of 2022, to help support further development in this truly expansive and involving game mode.

- With the change to the release date of the Freelancer game mode from Spring to the second half of 2022, IO Interactive has adjusted its plans for the next few months. - A New Map - Ambrose Island
- IO Interactive is bringing forward the release date of the ‘Rocky’ map that was first revealed in January. This is now scheduled for a July 2022 release. This new map will have an intriguing narrative for Hitman fans, as it takes place before the events of HITMAN 3 and fills in a few gaps from the World of Assassination storyline. - Patch 3.110 arrives on May 24 with PC RayTracing included in the update.
