Nvidia Announces New RTX 3080 Ti, New DLSS Supported Games

Don't worry, they're probably sold out already anyway.

Nvidia's Computex presentation brought some tasty new, but expected, announcements last night. First up, the technology giant announced two new entries in their GTX 30xx GPU series. These are the RTX 3080 Ti and the RTX 3070 Ti.

The RTX 3080 Ti will "launch" on June 3 for $1,199 (USD). It includes 12GB of GDDR6X memory, a whole 2GB increase over the vanilla GTX 3080 card and half of the GTX 3090. That price...

Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition on PC is Coming May 6

The PC release is happening first with a console release coming later.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition was announced back in February 2021 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This release of the game can be considered a graphical remaster of the original release. Though this will be a free release for existing owners of Metro Exodus, you will need hardware capable of real-time ray tracing to even run it. There are no exceptions to this.

    Metro Exodus Enhanced...

Source 2 Engine Might Get RTX Support Soon

Ray tracing support mentioned in Artifact's game files.

Valve recently made an update to their digital card game Artifact. That isn't the big news here, what is the big news is that hidden within the files were a couple of references to RTX and real-time ray tracing. This marks the first time that any sort of ray tracing support was noticed in any of Valve's Source 2 files.

The mentions were first discovered by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik. Djundik noticed that the latest...

Watch Dogs: Legion System Requirements Updated

You now need an RTX 3080 for 4K with ray tracing.

Ubisoft has updated their system requirements for Watch Dogs: Legion today. Previously, you would be able to max out the game with all of its bells, whistles, and RTX capabilities at 4K with "only" an Intel i7-9700K and a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

Now, it seems as though the same settings (Ultra at 4K with RTX) will require one of the new Nvidia RTX 3080 cards. This is now paired with an Intel Core i9-9900K. Yes, both...

Minecraft with RTX Beta Now Available

You now need a beefy rig to run Minecraft.

The beta for Minecraft with RTX is now available on Windows 10. You can download it, play it, and if your PC supports it, you can even enable real-time ray tracing via RTX. There is also support for physically-based materials and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0. Of course, you'll need to have a supported GeForce RTX GPU to actually make "proper" use of the tech.

A quick RTX on vs RTX off comparison can be seen below.

Nvidia Ray Tracing Support Added to Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Kill nazis in unprecedented visual fidelity.

The real-time ray tracing support for Wolfenstein: Youngblood was released today for the PC version of the game. The update, courtesy of MachineGames, Arkane Studios Lyon, and Nvidia allows players to work towards a better tomorrow with really pretty visuals.

Specifically, the update introduces ray-traced reflections throughout each level. Any surface, so long as it's reflective even a little, "will feature accurate, high-quality,...

New 425.31 Nvidia Drivers Bring Ray Tracing to Older GTX Cards

Remember about a month back when we told you that ray tracing was coming to those with non-RTX Nvidia cards? That day has finally arrived. With today's release of the 425.31 drivers, those on 1060 and higher cards can now give real-time ray tracing a spin.

Since all of these older cards lack the special hardware that helps to speed up DirectX Raytracing (DXR) in games, don't expect to have fantastic framerates. However, if you understand what you're getting yourself into, go nuts with...

Nvidia Announces Real-time Ray Tracing for Older GTX Cards

Nvidia just announced today that they are bringing real-time ray tracing to their GTX lineup of cards. This support will begin with a driver update currently slated for some time in April.

Get ready to have your framerates destroyed. Think about it this way: Nvidia's RTX cards have special hardware that is dedicated to handling the load of real-time ray tracing. Even with this special hardware, enabling real-time ray tracing still destroys framerates on these new cards.

  • Battlefield V is Now the First Game to Support Ray Tracing

Battlefield V is Now the First Game to Support Ray Tracing

With today's update to the game, Battlefield V is now the first game out there to support DirectX's real-time ray tracing (DXR). If you own an Nvidia 20xx card, you may want to check it out for yourself. Or maybe don't, because the performance hit is, to put it mildly, massive.
So, what is ray tracing? Essentially, an algorithm traces the path of light from many different viewpoints and simulates the way it interacts with 3D objects in the scene. As the ray moves through the scene it

GDC 2018: Microsoft Announces DirectX Raytracing

Though the adoption of dedicated DirectX 12 games is near non-existent, that hasn't stopped companies like Microsoft from adding in new features and APIs. The latest announcement came today in the form of a new API dedicated to facilitating the creation of real-time ray tracing.

This is a fairly simplified explanation from Wikipedia.
Optical ray tracing describes a method for producing visual images constructed in 3D computer graphics environments, with more photorealism
