New adventure, new characters, and new tales. This is what is coming with the new Tales from the Borderlands series that was announced today at PAX East. The announcement came from Gearbox and 2K and they say that it will be released in 2022.

CEO Randy Pitchford made the reveal during Gearbox's PAX East 2022 panel. The new game will be fully revealed this summer, but we did get a teaser image to tide us all over.

The first Tales from the Borderlands series was out in 2014 and developed by Telltale Games. The series took place between the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3. It followed characters Rhys and Fiona, the former of which also appears in Borderlands 3 as a fairly major story character.

Sadly, Telltale Games will not be leading development on this sequel. It will be done completely in-house at Gearbox with 2K handling the publishing. The new Tales from the Borderlands will be the next major Borderlands title released following Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a game that I felt was right up there with Borderlands 2 in terms of quality.

At this current point in time, we don't even know what this new game will be called, so let's just go with Tales from the Borderlands 2 for now.
