Developer of Fortnite, Epic Games, recently added a limited-time mode to their battle royale megahit that removed all forms of building. The event lasted about 9 days, which gave fans and newcomers a taste of what the game would be like if you couldn't build any structures.

It seemed to go over quite well with most everyone. People who were longtime fans of the game didn't seem to take issue with it, especially since the ranked mode still included building. People who never played before because of the building also tried it out and seemed to like it. Hell, one of my friends who was against playing Fortnite because of the building aspect also finally tried it out because of the no build mode and really enjoyed it.

The limited time mode was set to end today, and it did, sort of.

Epic Games heard the positive response loud and clear and turned that limited time mode into a permanent feature in Fortnite. They're calling this new mode Fortnite Zero Build. A recent datamine of Fortnite files suggested that Epic wouldn't consider adding in the mode permanently until the start of next season. Thankfully, fans didn't have to wait what could have been several weeks for the mode to become a permanent fixture.

As the name implies, you won't be able to build structures in this mode. This means that your first line of defense is a recharging Overshield. Players can also go up Ascenders to access Blimps and also make use of the new Mantling feature.

Fans of this no build mode will be able to enjoy it in Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads.
