It Takes Two has surpassed 5 million copies sold. This includes over two million sales since October, meaning that about three million copies were sold between the game's launch on March 26, 2021 through October 2021. The continued strong sales through the end of the year were probably helped a bit after the game won Game of the Year at The Game Awards.
In addition to the GOTY win, It Takes Two also won the awards for best multiplayer game and best family game at The Game Awards.
Developer Hazelight Studios say that they are "absolutely stunned" at just how many players have played and enjoyed the game. There will be more of It Takes Two coming, at least in some form. Hazelight has partnered with dj2 Entertainment to create film and TV adaptations of the game.
It Takes Two is currently 50% off on Steam until February 11. Only one copy needs to be purchased as it comes with a free friend pass that allows you to invite a friend to play with you.
