FromSoftware announced two important pieces of Elden Ring related news today. First off, yes, the game has been delayed. Though originally set to release on January 21, 2022, the open-world fantasy RPG will now be released on February 25, 2022.

On the flip side of that coin is word that there will be a closed network test happening in November 2021! This will give fans an opportunity to get a taste of what the full game will offer while also testing out the online servers ahead of the game's release.

This closed test will run from November 12-14, 2021 and only at select times. Furthermore, the test will only be conducted on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. There will be no closed network test for the PC version of the game.

You can register for a chance to be randomly selected for this Closed Network Test by visiting this link. The specific test times are as follows:
  • November 12: 3:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. PST
  • November 12: 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. PST
  • November 13: 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. PST
  • November 14: 3:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. PST
  • November 14: 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. PST
Bandai Namco, the game's publisher, did put up a little FAQ concerning this test. For instance, they specify that content will be limited in this test, as is to be expected. There is definitely something interesting to note here though:

Can I do live streaming or live action during the network test?

A.
Live steaming is not allowed due to the fact that the game data is still work in progress.
Of course, in this day and age, I fully expect that people will leak footage of this test to the Internet mere seconds after it launches.
