When Spider-Man is added to Marvel's Avengers, presumably by the end of the year, it will be more than just a simple character addition. This PlayStation exclusive character will not only be playable only on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but he will also come with added story content and additional cutscenes. This content will not be made available to any other platform.

Crystal Dyanmics' senior producer Dan Matlack let this information slip when responding to a fan's question on the game's official Discord server. Matlack was asked whether or not Spider-Man would come with his own storyline and he replied that "Spider-Man is what we call an 'event' so he will have cutscenes and a story for sure." A big thanks to MP1st for spotting this.

Matlack then went on to talk a bit about the game's first raid, where players will do battle against Klaw. This will serve as the finale for the game's latest major expansion, War for Wakanda. The raid will feature some familiar environments but will still remain a unique experience.

It was a bit over a year back when it was revealed that Spider-Man would be added to Marvel's Avengers as some post-launch content that was exclusive to Sony's platform. At the time this already generated a fair bit of controversy and anger amongst the fanbase, because let's face it: Platform exclusive content on multiplatform games kind of sucks. Now that there is confirmed to be actual story content and cutscenes available only to PlayStation owners, I can't imagine this news is sitting well with fans of the game on Xbox and PC.
