It has to be better than Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5... right?
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

It seems as though a little rumor of Tony Hawk's return to the gaming world resurfaced today. Technically, the rumor was given a fair bit of confirmation back in October but nobody really noticed until today. Back in October, professional skateboarder Lizzie Armanto casually mentioned that Tony Hawk was working on a new game.

She was speaking with The Nine Club podcast last month. Armanto was asked about her appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 before saying that (Tony)'s coming out with another one, and I'll be in that too." This confirmation comes around the 2:50:00 mark in the interview. Interestingly, some versions of the podcast have actually been edited to remove Armanto's comment. It's possible that by the time you go to hear it for yourself it will have been removed already.

If a new Tony Hawk is actually in development, as Armanto suggests, let's just hope it turns out better than the previous game. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is widely regarded as the worst game in the franchise. It's also one of the lowest scored PlayStation 4 and Xbox One titles ever released. Many outlets called Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 the "worst game of 2015." Even the infamous promo image for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 (seen at top) was laughably bad.

As far as I know, the licensing deal between Tony Hawk and Activision expired at the end of 2015. Another Tony Hawk game was released in 2018, but it was for mobile devices only and it wasn't published by Activision. Activision apparently still holds the license to the "Pro Skater" name. It's not clear who Hawk would be working with on a new title, what platforms it would be on, or pretty much anything else.
