Marks the end of the first season of free content.
World War Z Proving Grounds

The Proving Grounds update is out today for World War Z. This update offers up more free content for those that own the game, but marks the final free content drop for this "first season." Plans are already in the works for another season of content. From the trailer, it seems as though things like Horde mode, new maps, and more are planned for Season Two.

This update includes the addition of the Weekly Challenge mode, which is a separate playlist that adds unique gameplay modifiers. A sample of these modifiers include things like all weapons are replaced by crossbows, or players take damage if they're too close to each other. Stuff like that.

If you complete the weekly challenge, you will earn a new currency that you can spend on character customization options like color schemes, headgear, backpack attachments, and more.

This update also includes the new FN FAL battle rifle. Of course, today's Proving Grounds update includes the usual assortment of game fixes and adjustments.

Also out today is the Biohazard Bundle, which is a piece of paid DLC for $4.99 (USD). This DLC includes three new weapon skins and a tomahawk axe. As before, World War Z is still only available through the Epic Games Store if you're looking for the PC version. It's also out now for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The earlier free content for World War Z included the six-skulls difficulty setting, and the release of the "Undead Sea" Tokyo mission.
