  • E3 Offers a New Look at The Surge 2

Get a look at new features, stories, and enemies.
    The Surge 2

Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive brought E3 visitors a special treat this week. That treat is an all-new trailer for The Surge 2, the upcoming action-RPG follow-up that expands upon the original.

The new trailer features "The Day is My Enemy" as performed by a little known band called The Prodigy. You may know them for their easy listening hit, "Smack My Bitch Up" and their wildfire awareness hit, "Firestarter."

This new trailer for The Surge 2 shows off some of the game's new features, stories, and enemies that are coming. The Surge 2 is set to be released on September 24 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are available right now.

Inside the high walls of Jericho city, trapped in a technological apocalypse that threatens to consume everyone within, our hero fights to survive and uncover the truth of the disaster. Cult members hopped up on drugs, nanomachines, looters, and security forces will try to stop you wherever you go while a mysterious girl leads you to parts unknown.

This plays out on a backdrop of a world on the brink of simultaneous total collapse and technological ascendancy. Self-evolving nanobeasts crush buildings with swipes of their massive claws while the downtrodden, infatuated with machines through malfunctioning implants and rising religion, roam the streets in packs. The rich and wealthy exist above it all, while hunters try to capture their valuable nano-prey and what remains of the military maintains a flimsy order.

      Review: The Surge 2 (PC)
      by Shawn Zipay
Better than the original in almost every way.

A weird thing happens when you have just a weekend to play a game and write a review for said game. I literally got my code Friday morning but could not begin until late Friday night. Sometimes that game ends up being longer than you anticipated. Sometimes that time that you could spend playing the game is spent instead with a weird thing called "life." And while "life" does have a tremendous framerate, it doesn't help...

The Surge is Not Dark Souls and That's Okay (Review)
      by Shawn Zipay

      Reborn from the Fallen
There is a very interesting thing happening with reviews for Deck13's new action-RPG The Surge. It's something I saw before and something I myself am guilty of, especially when it comes to Deck13's previous release, Lords of the Fallen. That "interesting thing" I have noticed is a move to compare each and every aspect of The Surge to the Dark Souls games. That alone is fine but the thing I cannot stand is the fact that some are actually upset, even borderline...

Just one month to go until release.

A new Gamescom Overview trailer is out today for The Surge 2. In case you couldn't make it all the way over to Germany to see it first-hand, you can just watch it from the comfort of your bed right now.

This trailer sort of sets the stage and gives you an idea of what to expect in this upcoming action-RPG from Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive. The Surge 2 is about a month away from its September 24 release on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation...
