Another Tripwire published title revealed as an EGS timed-exclusive.

The Chivalry series is making a comeback at what could be a very interesting time. Despite fierce competition from Mordhau, Torn Banner Studios announced that they are working on Chivalry 2. It will once again be a multiplayer first-person "slasher" set in medieval battlefields. The game, published by Tripwire Interactive, is targeting a 2020 release on the Epic Games Store.

The publisher confirms that, just like their previously announced title Maneater, Chivalry 2 will be a one-year timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. To contrast, Mordhau is available right now on Steam, Humble, and multiple third-party retailers for $29.99 (USD), and it looks like the response isn't all that great to Chivalry 2 releasing as an EGS exclusive. This is especially "nervous collar tugging" inducing given that Chivalry 2's announced features are already in Mordhau.

In addition, a lot of former Chivalry fans are carrying a bit of a grudge against Torn Banner Studios when the studio abandoned development of the original title while numerous bugs and exploits remained unchecked in the game. There is also this often shared article (original at Polycount) by former Chivalry developer Scott Petty that details the terrible leadsership by Torn Banner's president Steve Piggott. In short, Piggott lied to and manipulated his employees for years, resulting in multiple unjust firings via a "team vote" that were never actually voted on by the employees. This is in addition to taking upwards of 65% in royalty bonuses, despite telling employees he was only getting 9%.

But for those of you out there who don't care about any of that, here is what Chivalry 2 brings to the table.
