There will be a closed alpha beginning March 2020 for Chivalry 2. Those who are interested in trying out the game for themselves well ahead of the game's actual release, should head on over to the Chivalry 2 Closed Alpha signup page.
The alpha does come with the stipulation that you agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). That means if you get in you cannot publicly share any media from the alpha. The teams at Torn Banner Studios and Tripwire Interactive have set up a dedicated FAQ page that should address most of the questions you may have about this closed alpha.
The Chivalry 2 alpha will be held exclusively through the Epic Games Store. The game itself is a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. A fair number of Chivalry fans were first made aware of the alpha via the Steam page for Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Replies made by fans to the announcement are, quite understandably, on the highly irate side of the scale. Then again, it's not like Tripwire could have announced this through the Epic Games Store. Do you know why? That's right, because the Epic Games Store lacks this feature, among so very many others.
Hey, Valve allows it, so whatever. Moving on.
Both Chivalry 2 and Tripwire's own Maneater will be present and playable at PAX East 2020. Those who are in attendance at the living petri dish will get to experience public demos for the games, photo opportunities (like... with a shark or suit of armor?), a chance to get some "swag," and a chance to meet the devs for the games. There will also be a chance for attendees to win an Intel NUC Hades Canyon Mini PC along with a copy of either the first or second Chivalry game.
There is a bit more on both Chivalry 2 and Maneater below. Chivalry 2 is slated to release later in 2020. Maneater, the action-RPG where you play as a shark, is slated to be released on May 22, 2020. Maneater is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned but like so many other games, the Switch release will come "at a later date." The PC release of Maneater is, like Chivalry 2, another timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. If you want to purchase Maneater now instead of waiting for the patched up and (probably) more content filled Steam release arriving at or after May 22, 2021, then you should do so through this EGS affiliate link.
