• Bungie Begins Damage Control Measures as Fans Become More Upset at the State of Destiny 2

Bungie has cancelled tomorrow's scheduled stream for the upcoming Curse of Osiris Destiny 2 expansion in favor of having the heads of the studio talk about the state of the game. For weeks now, fans have started to become more and more irate at Bungie's silence and inaction when it comes to issues with the game.

These complaints range from a severe lack of end game content, to PvP in Destiny 2 being a shell of its former self, to rewards not being, well, rewarding. The latest complaints are about the game's broken scaling experience system. See, it turns out that the longer you play, specifically the longer you do a specific activity, the less experience you earn. Even worse, the game lied to you about the experience you were actually earning by orders of magnitude. This meant that earning Bright Engrams was taking much, much longer than it should once you hit the soft level cap.

But why would this be the case? Keep in mind that Bright Engrams can be purchased using real money. Obviously some fans are under the belief that the XP system was deliberately gimped in order to make real money transactions more enticing for collectors.

Bungie ended up saying that their scaling system wasn't working as intended and that they would fix it. Most fans believed that nothing would be changed if fans hadn't realized what was going on. Bungie's fix? They adjusted the scaling system... and then doubled the amount of experience needed in order to earn a level and thus earn another Bright Engram. Brilliant.

Finally, early previews for the upcoming Curse of Osiris DLC has been less than stellar. Many outlets have said that the DLC is quite light on content. In a game that is already lacking a lot of end-game content, this news has been less than well received. Fans have called for quality of life improvements and have become increasingly angry towards Bungie. So, Bungie is finally starting to step up to the plate here.

The studio announced that a stream that was scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, November 29, 2017) is instead going to be replaced by a blog post on what the studio is doing to address some problems.
Hey, there.

Tomorrow, we had planned to conduct the final stream prior to the launch of “Curse of Osiris” to show off some of the weapons and armor the expansion includes. Instead, we are investing all our efforts into delivering some higher priority information about Destiny 2. You’ll hear from studio leadership about their assessment of Destiny all up, they’ll talk about our goals for the game going forward, and you’ll also learn about how we’re reacting to your feedback with some game updates that will arrive in the next few weeks.
That will appear on the Bungie Blog on Wednesday.

Thank you,
DeeJ

This is probably a make or break it situation for many players. We'll try to share the highlights from tomorrow's blog post once it's made public.

Ah damn it, that totally slipped my mind. I should've remembered that after how poor my loot was in the Nightfall my friends and I did just prior to writing this.

I've put lets say 40+ hours into Destiny 2 (not sure if there's a way to check), and i'm pretty sure 5 of those was playing fresh content i hadn't seen before, while there's an argument that i got good value from it for the hours i've played, it certainly doesn't feel that way.
It's definitely not an "unprecedented combination of cinematic storytelling, thrilling solo adventures, co-operative and competitive style gameplay - all seamlessly woven into an expansive online world."

Like the first game, we're left wanting more.

When Destiny first launched in late 2014, it was something special, almost magical. Bungie and Activision created a new franchise that let players explore parts of our Solar System from their couches, forge new friendships, take down massive enemies, and feel akin to comic book superheroes. However, that game was not without its faults. At launch, the game lacked much in the way of in-game story, opting instead to send the...

All good things...
