Today is a great day to play games if, you know, you like those sorts of things. Since you're here, the chances are pretty high that you are such a person. Today, October 27, 2017, there are three great games out for a variety of platforms, so there's bound to be something that strikes your fancy.

First up is the release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. PS4, XB1, and PC owners get the game today. Switch owners will get the game in 2018. Wolfenstein II has an average score of 88 at OpenCritic.
Wolfenstein II sends players to Nazi-controlled America on a mission to recruit the boldest resistance leaders left. Players will fight the Nazis in iconic locations such as small-town Roswell, New Mexico, quarantined New Orleans, and a post-nuclear Manhattan. Armed with an impressive arsenal of fully upgradeable retro sci-fi weaponry, including the all-new Dieselkraftwerk, players can unleash new abilities to blast through legions of advanced Nazi soldiers and über soldiers in this definitive first-person shooter.

Next up is the release of Assassin's Creed Origins. Origins is available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Origins presently has an 84 average at OpenCritic.
Set in Ancient Egypt at the time of Cleopatra, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a brand new vision for the franchise, embracing Action-RPG elements, where players level up, loot, and choose their abilities to customise their very own skilled Assassin, as they discover the origins of the Assassin’s Creed itself. They will also experience a completely new combat system, allowing them to attack and defend multiple enemies at once, fighting against dangerous factions and wild beasts as they explore a gigantic and unpredictable land.

Finally, Super Mario Odyssey is out today for Switch owners. It presently sits at a damn impressive 98 at OpenCritic.
Use amazing new abilities—like the power to capture and control objects, animals, and enemies—to collect Power Moons so you can power up the Odyssey airship and save Princess Peach from Bowser's wedding plans!

Thanks to heroic, hat-shaped Cappy, Mario's got new moves that'll make you rethink his traditional run-and-jump gameplay—like cap jump, cap throw, and capture. Use captured cohorts such as enemies, objects, and animals to progress through the game and uncover loads of hidden collectibles.

      by Shawn Zipay
The multiplayer more than makes up for the "dull" campaign.

The initial batch of reviews for Battlefield 6 indicate that yes, Battlefield is back! This is assuming you ignore the "short," "disappointing," and "dull" single player campaign. At least the multiplayer component seems to more than make up for the massively disappointing campaign.

The average critical score on OpenCritic for Battlefield 6 is 84% with 92% of all critics...
