PlayerUnknown and his team at Bluehole made an announcement today that there are some Battle Royale themed clothing options coming soon to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

First off, the team revealed that the monthly update for July has been pushed to August 3 due to complications with the build they wanted to use. There will still be a small patch released this week to address some of the more commonly reported bugs.
On August 3rd, we will be adding the following to the game in our monthly update.

The bigger news here is that on August 3, the game will introduce three new crates. All three crates will include items inspired from the Battle Royale film. The first two crates are named Wanderer and Survivor. These will be free to open after buying them with the in-game currency (same as the current crates) and will each include one set of themed clothing on top of other cosmetic items. The third crate is called the Gamescom Invitational Crate and can be opened after purchasing a key for $2.50 (USD).

The Gamescom Invitational Crate will be used in conjunction with the first offline Invitational, which is being held at Gamescom. Go figure, right? This Invitational will bring together "the best Battlegrounds content creators" who will also hold "events each day for the duration of the convention."

The proceeds from the sale of these keys will help out in three ways.

Once Gamescom is finished on August 27, the Invitational Crates will be removed from the game. All three crates will be tradeable on the Steam Community Market in the future.
