Telltale Games revealed at San Diego Comic Con that all of their upcoming games will feature multiplayer, beginning with the August 2 release of Batman: The Telltale Series. Shacknews broke this story earlier today where Telltale talks about their new feature, Crowd Play. "We wanted a better way to integrate that audience," Job Stauffer, head of creative communications at Telltale, told us. "Now, from two to 2,000-plus people can help the player make decisions."
"We are now turning all of Telltale's games into a live interactive multiplayer experience," he said.
At the beginning of each game, starting with the upcoming Batman title on August 2, players will have an option to turn on Crowd Play. Saying yes generates a URL that can be shared with people in the room. They then go to that URL on their phone or other device and log in, essentially adding them to the game. Unlike joining games via a server browser, only those with the specific URL can get into the game.
Crowd Play will offer two modes: one allows the crowd's decision to be the final say, the other allows the player to override the will of the masses. Crowd players will be able to choose one of the four dialogue options, which will then be tallied live in the form of percentages on the player's screen, letting the player know immediately what everyone thinks should be done. Crowd players will also be able to give thumbs up or thumbs down responses to various actions the player is taking, again offering more feedback to the player who wants to keep everyone happy.

For those worried that this will impact your game, you need not worry. There will still be a traditional single player mode that everyone can play through. This is also not really a thing that will be attractive for streamers given the time sensitive nature of some of the choices in Telltale games. This is more directed to those playing at home with friends, all 2,000 of your friends.
Perfect for "Influencers".
Damn it Telltale, I thought you guys "get it." And now you put in audience features like Jackbox Games for time-sensitive responses? Exactly like Zips said, who's using it? Basically, we'd get the prompts like 30 seconds earlier than the player would in order for this to work. Or, the player turns on the extended audience timer to get the slowest Batman experience ever. Or The Walking Dead, where the zombie plays Solitaire while Clementine stares at the sky, waiting for the audience to decide between saving a person or going to the burning building containing the cure for the zombie outbreak.
At least we can now see how Jackbox Games' audience features will apply in other genres. Imagine audience features in a racing game? Now THERE'S a literal backseat driving experience!
