It's a damn shame we don't live in a world where the second alternative cover isn't the official cover and the first alternative is the reverse side of that. Alas, we can have but one good cover here. Be sure to cast your vote on Twitter. There are just about three days remaining before the vote is closed.

I'm glad they pulled a BioShock Infinite here, but damn... How long did it take for the artist to whip up Option B? Did he or she have it the entire time? I hope this wasn't artwork taken from someone else (already had Naughty Dog and BioWare caught with that kind of thing already). This is a nice tribute to the original, and it's almost as beautiful as the cover for the American version of Contra: The Alien Wars for SNES (the Japanese Famicom version had a VERY UGLY generic cover). I mean, both covers could've been better, but as it is, this is a difference of night and day between the crap we had before, and the choices we have now. It's like The Game Awards. It could use a lot of improvement (reduce more filler and allot more time for nominees/winners, and stop skipping categories in the interest of time), but compared to VGX or anything Viacom touches with SpikeTV, the improvements are already massive enough to deserve at least a bit of praise.
Edit: On second thought, give us the art assets for the ugly DOOM cover, but without the logo on it. I think it would work very well as a parody of Dead Space cover art, Halo cover art, Metroid spin-off cover art (Prime Federations could benefit from this gritty artwork), Destiny artwork, TitanFall artwork, Call of Duty artwork (for any future warfare themed games, including Future Warfare if it ever gets used), Epsilon artwork (if the tactical shooter wants a fiery background), and Sanrio World Smash Ball artwork. It's surprisingly flexible for so many games, it can be considered a very well-designed universal cover art! You say generic? I say universal! You say cramped? I say cozy! Glass is always half-full when I suck at my job!
Second Edit: How did these guys make the DOOM logo worse than the original? Who came up with the brilliant idea of having the logo a boring plain white? What was wrong with the original's blue and red colors? Why couldn't they improve on that? I'm not saying it HAS to be blue and red, but I AM saying the logo should look better than the original. I mean hooray for reusing the same font, but damn they thought plain white would cut it? Seriously how much does one get paid to do this uncreative $#!+?
