Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is Live

Doom Slayer, Geralt, motor bikes, augments, and so much more.

Yesterday, the third chapter of Fortnite Battle Royale came to an end. Today, Chapter 4 launched with yet another major update to the map, a new Battle Pass, new gear, new unlocks, new cosmetics, and everything else.

On the surface, one of the most apparent changes in this new chapter is the move to Unreal Engine 5.1. Epic Games also included some new ways to get around the map that include a dirt bike, rolling...

John Romero is Making a New Game

John Romero is about to make Unreal Engine 5 his-- oh, who are we kidding.

As one of the key figures behind such standout franchises like Doom, Quake, Heretic, and er... Daikatana, John Romero is no stranger to the gaming industry. The last game he worked on, Empire of Sin, came out back in 2020 to some rather tepid reviews. Some bad reviews don't keep a good Romero down (again, Daikatana says hello), which is why Romero is looking to create a new first-person shooter.

Doom Eternal Almost Had a Female Slayer

Game director had put a lot of thought into the idea.

During a recent Bethesda stream, DOOM Eternal game director Hugo Martin said that he put a lot of thought into how to incorporate a female Slayer into the franchise. He says that he would want the female Slayer to be more than just a simple reskin of the Slayer we have all come to know (and love?).

You can listen to Martin field the question at the 59m32s mark of their recent Twitch stream, or read the transcript below. ...

Denuvo Anti-Cheat Getting Removed from DOOM Eternal in Next Update

Consider this a horribly failed experiment.

id Software executive producer Marty Stratton took to Reddit to announce that the much detested Denuvo Anti-Cheat will be removed in the next update for DOOM Eternal. For those who are not aware, the previous update for DOOM Eternal added in the third-party anti-cheat to the game.

Much like the anti-cheat used in Valorant, the Denuvo Anti-Cheat operates with elevated permissions at ring 0, or at the kernel level of a system....

id Software and Composer Mick Gordon Officially Part Ways

This is a huge loss for everyone.

Mick responded to the Twitter thread saying that he did not mix the tracks in question and that...

When I think "DOOM" I think of... hip-hop?

Bethesda released a new video today for DOOM Eternal. When you think of DOOM, you probably think about the action, the environments, the demons, and the music. Oh, that wonderful music that was created by Mick Gordon. Even if you aren't traditionally a fan of metal, you probably couldn't help but get pumped up when something like BFG Division really kicked in.

The soundtrack to DOOM is pretty iconic. It elevated that...

Bethesda Dropping Account Login Requirement for Original Doom Titles

It was, allegedly, never meant to be a requirement.

This past week, Bethesda pushed out the first three Doom titles for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Almost immediately it was discovered that players needed to login to a Bethesda.net account in order to play these games. It was made all the more curious when you realize that the first two Doom titles came out starting in 1993 and have no online multiplayer component.

Bethesda took note of the massive...
