The HD remake that nobody really wanted is coming out later this Spring. Yeah, I'm talking about an HD remake of the original Postal. No, not the FPS Postal, the original Postal.After 19 years and millions of downloads, Running With Scissors is remaking their twin-stick shooter POSTAL and adding new content. POSTAL Redux will release on Steam for Windows, SteamOS and Mac in Spring 2016. Playstation 4 gamers can enjoy the surreal action later in the year, marking the franchise’s first appearance on console.
In POSTAL Redux, players take control of The POSTAL Dude as he battles to survive in a world gone MAD. Crazed gunmen are out for blood and wait around every corner. Players fight back with a destructive arsenal as they make their way through a kill-or-be-killed psychological Thriller.
One major addition to POSTAL Redux is Rampage Mode, a new single-player mode based around a scoring system, which encourages an aggressive style of play by increasing a multiplier for each consecutive kill in a streak. Players will receive a grade following the completion of each level.
POSTAL Redux will maintain the elements that made the original POSTAL world-renowned. The grim art style, frightening ambience, the omnipresent “demonic voice” and the marching band will be faithfully recreated in this modern day take on a title which became a symbol for free speech in gaming.

And apparently that went so well that they've decided to go even further backwards, much to my surprise. So... Okay then. New Old Postal then... Ye Neo Olde Postal? I dunno.
One thing worth mentioning is that Postal 2 is one of the earliest games to reward pacifism (the game refers you as Jesus and thanks you for playing the game). However, unlike Undertale, the game is so much more difficult to rely on non-lethal force as the Postal Dude is ALWAYS forced into situations where most of the NPCs are well-armed and psychotically violent, rather than merely defending themselves. At least in Undertale, pacifism is actually feasible. In my opinion, it's the reason why Postal doesn't really succeed in giving you the option to be as violent as you want to be. It simply rewards you to go on a genocidal rampage. I never really understood why Running With Scissors insists that their tagline "Only as violent as you are" is to be taken seriously. I mean, with the title "Postal," I thought that tagline was meant to be a joke, but according to them it's not.
Avoid 3 like the plague, because I'd rather you play 1 if you really need to see them all. But 2 is fun in the sense that it tests you on whether you can even be a pacifist or not. It's intentionally giving you the perspective that the city is nuts, not you. With that said, there's some gameplay mechanics that are both useful and trolling depending on how you use it. Such as urination, or paying for/stealing groceries, etc.
Also for a shortcut in Postal 2, don't pee when Postal Dude verbally talks about needing to go. It'll save a lot of hassle.
The levels are also connected to one another, like Metal Gear Solid 3. Not quite open-world, but they're maps connected together through transitioning loading screens, so you can also waste time by exploring the city if you want to.
And finally, it has references to real life events such as the Florida voting incident.
Even Postal 2 (after being updated) and its last expansion pack included references to Postal 3, where Running With Scissors goes to town with parodying how bad it was. If you find the hidden boxed copy of Postal 3 in the Postal 2 base game, you get an achievement for peeing on it.
I had wondered for the longest time how Running With Scissors screwed up that bad, but I never realized (despite the Steam store listing and Wikipedia being quite clear) they off-sourced development and publishing (thus QA) of the game. Since then, RWS has said they learned their lessons and will make their next game completely in-house. Which is... Postal 2 and then Postal 1 apparently.
