A New Metal Gear is Coming, It's a Pachinko Machine
Don't worry. Konami may have the franchise and viciously torture it before slaughtering it in cold-blood, but Hideo Kojima and anybody he can rally from Kojima Productions has the legacy of Metal Gear. None of us care about the franchise. We care about the legacy of Metal Gear, and it is safe with Kojima. Quite frankly, it's a blessing for him at long last. He wanted to stop doing Metal Gear so many times (and those death threats to bring him back to MGS4, ugh), that this is finally the break he desperately needed.
At this point, I want to see him apply the legacy to a new IP, or grab any IPs Konami will not use for pachinkos/mobile. Like say... Boktai. Boktai has stealth elements too. I'm sure he can apply some Metal Gear mechanics and storyline twists in Boktai/Lunar Knights. Or Policenauts? Or just create something completely new, but applying things from previous games to sort of tribute them?
F**Konami. Metal Gear has ended, and the final chapter was on YouTube/Collector's Edition (even as the weakest story in Metal Gear's history, we did get an answer or two relating to Metal Gear 1). Good enough. Lets see what Hideo Kojima feels like doing now that he has that creative breath of fresh air.
Who knows? Maybe Hideo can convince Guillermo del Toro that he's not cursed for games? Force him to believe they're only coincidences and that it's okay for him to touch game development without nuking it.
Prediction:Konami will release a Metal Gear 1 and 2 remake using the FOX Engine or better, and they will bring back David Hayter to voice act David/Solid Snake. There will also be multiplayer set in the environments of MG 1 and 2, and Snake is a playable character. Possibly even Raiden as a time travelling joke. This is how they will try to appease hardcore fans, I'm sure. The only question is, will it be for console, mobile, or both? And will they have microtransactions/paid DLC/season passes? DLC and season passes are likely, but microtransactions are a maybe (not sure on that). I also suspect a movie will eventually be made, but Konami won't care how butchered it is. It might even have Charlie Sheen as Snake hah!
At long, long last, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will no longer be confined to the PlayStation 3. With last week's announcement of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Konami will finally get Metal Gear Solid 4 into the hands of a much larger audience.
Of course, Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be the only title contained within the "collection." It will be paired with one of my favorite Metal Gear...
According to The New Yorker, Hideo Kojima said his final good-byes to Konami on October 9. Anonymous sources said that the popular developer had a farewell party that day with Kojima Productions. Kojima has at least a few months of mandatory R&R as he is under a non-compete until December.
This is the final note for Kojima's career with Konami after months of conflict. The first signs of trouble surfaced back in March of this year when it was rumored that Kojima was expected...
