Some of the first details on Disney Infinity 2.0 were revealed earlier today by Polygon. We're looking at characters like Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Loki, MODOK, Hawkeye, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor slated to show up in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes.
Play sets in the 2.0 Edition of the game will be much larger than those in the original version of the game. Marvel's version of Manhattan, for example, is four times larger than the size of the Incredibles play set from the original Disney Infinity. "We needed to make the world a lot larger," Blackburn said, "because our characters can fly."

Flying in 2.0 will introduce hovering and forward flight, and players will be able to engage in combat in both modes. Characters will also be able to perform super jumps, Vignocchi said, and climb up the sides of buildings. The 2.0 Edition will also raise the level cap for characters and expand upgrading and customization with a skill tree-style interface.

It has been confirmed that all toys, sets, and power discs from the first version of Disney Infinity will work in Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition. At this rate, I'm going to assume that the 3.0 Edition will add in characters from Star Wars.
