Activision Believes Destiny will be Best-Selling New IP Ever

Activision is placing some extreme confidence in Bungie's upcoming massively multiplayer shooter. During a conference call, Bobby Kotick said that he expects Destiny to be the best selling new IP ever released.

"We expect that Destiny will become the best-selling new video game IP in history when it launches across Xbox and PlayStation consoles on September 9," Kotick told investors.

See? I told you. He went on to say that he feels the game has the potential to be the company's next billion dollar franchise. CEO and President of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, says that Destiny is on track to be the most pre-ordered new IP ever.

  That screenshot just looks like part of Halo 4 with a forerunner weapon. Im not writing the game off i just cant see it being the big "Best selling new IP" they think its going to be. I cant really judge off one screenshot though.

  From what I keep hearing (which is a lot of positive buzz) it's like a persistent environment, open-world Borderlands. It has dynamic world events that take place, etc. So it's like an MMO meets Borderlands, with tons of crazy weapons, player classes, etc. Plus you combine that with the really solid shooter experience that Bungie is great at (despite what you may think of Halo, Bungie is really damn good at creating quality feeling FPS gameplay).
  
  I'm actually super excited for it. I'm just a bit disappointed there won't be a PC release.
