Play local co-op without the couch.
Valve just launched their first public beta for the Steam Remote Play Together feature. This will allow you to invite online Steam Friends to join in on your local co-op game, local multiplayer, and split screen games as if they were sitting beside you.
You can have up to four players (or more in some situations) instantly join on your game. For this feature, only the host needs to own and install the game. The other players will connect...

Counter-Strike Update Adds Classic Knife Skins and an Updated Cache
The classic CS knife is back.
An update is out today for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Included in this update is an updated version of Cache courtesy of FMPONE and Volcano. This updated release is now playable on all official servers through the Casual, Deathmatch, and Scrimmage game types.
Also released today is the CS20 Case. This case is being released in honor of the 20th anniversary of Counter-Strike. Given that Counter-Strike first came out on June 18, 1999... -

New Steam Library Beta is now Live
A new beta brings a new look to your Steam library.
Earlier this month, Valve announced that they were going to launch a complete overhaul to the Steam Library. Today, the first beta release of that drastic redesign has been released to the public mere moments ago. Those of you who are already in the beta release channel for the Steam client may have already gotten the update today. For everyone else, here is what you need to know.
Valve has kindly set up a new page specifically... -

Steam Redesign Beta Begins September 17
Get a first-hand look at the New Steam Library redesign in about two weeks.
On September 17, Valve will open the doors to everyone that wants to check out the New Steam Library first-hand. This will be an opt-in beta that will allow anybody to test drive the new features before they're rolled out to everyone as part of a mandatory Steam client update.
Valve went into detail about some of the major changes you'll notice in this new design. First off, is the obvious new look... -

The International 9 Once Again Breaks All the Records
Another year, another batch of broken esports records.
Valve announced today that the ninth annual Dota 2 International Championships (The International 9) has smashed records? Which records? A lot of esports ones.
First off, this marks the first back-to-back victory for any team in the history of The International. That's right, OG won it all this year just as they did in 2018. I'm sure a lot of fans had that spoiled for them thanks to a random email from Twitch. Good... -

The 2019 International Main Event Begins
Over $33 million is up for grabs.
Valve just passed along word that the Main Event festivities for The International Dota 2 Championships for 2019 have officially kicked off. This is all going down at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.
This is the ninth annual event and, once again, it has broken all sorts of records by having the biggest community-driven prize pool of over $33 million. First place is looking to get $15,276,981 once all is said and done. I think... -

Steam Workshop Items Need Approval from Valve
But only for first-party titles from Valve.
You may have already seen that news going around that items on the Steam Workshop must now be approved by Valve before they will appear for the public. This seems to include anything that you may typically find on the Steam Workshop, including custom maps, models, skins, sounds, and the like. This first showed up via a Reddit post on the Global Offensive subreddit.
However, this approval process is not for every Workshop enabled... -

Valve to Put an End to Abuse of 'Upcoming Releases' Section on Steam
Hopefully this puts a stop to studios that game the system to always appear on the first page of upcoming releases.
If you ever tried to look at the "all upcoming releases" section on Steam, you probably noticed that a lot of games appearing on the first couple of pages didn't actually have set release dates. A lot of them would appear to be vague windows of time that would, for whatever reason, still show up before games that actually had set releases planned in the coming... -

Valve Apologizes for Leaking Street Fighter V Character Reveal Early
Valve apologizes for an incident they call "regrettable and unintentional."
Just this past Thursday, Capcom made the big reveal that E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison were coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. For some fans, this was completely new and exciting news to read. For others, this was just a confirmation of a leak that happened on Wednesday of this past week.
The leak in question was an early release of the reveal trailer for the three upcoming characters.... -

Full Index VR Kits Now Available Without a Reservation
Other SKUs coming soon.
Valve just put out a small announcement today saying that those looking to purchase the full Valve Index VR kit can do so right now without having to make a reservation. For the past month or so of release, the only way to actually purchase and obtain one of these kits was to make a reservation through Steam and wait patiently.
Right now, Valve is only offering the full Index VR bundle without a reservation and only in the United States. They say... -

Introducing Steam Labs - A Place to Test New Steam Features
Launching today with three experiments.
Valve has just launched a new area on Steam where users can test out new, experimental features for Steam. They're calling this area the Steam Labs and it is here where users will be able to test out potential new Steam features. These tests may one day become commonplace on Steam, but for now they are mere experiments ripe for testing and potential changes based on user feedback.
If you ever used Gmail, you may already know what... -

Steam Will Not Support Ubuntu 19.10 and Later
But will still support Linux.
Valve is one of the big reasons why gaming on Linux has seen such a massive surge in recent years. One of the biggest pushes came not from specially created Linux builds of games, but from Proton, a fork of Wine that Valve released to allow for games to become playable on Linux that may not have native Linux support. At present, there are over 5,400 games that work through Steam on Linux thanks to Proton.
Over the years, Valve has recommended... -

Valve Kicks Off Spring Cleaning Event
Play some old games before you buy new ones?
Given that we already seem to know when the Steam Summer Sale will go live, it just makes sense that you should play and finish some of your back catalog first. That seems to be what Valve was thinking when they kicked off their Spring Cleaning Event today. This event rewards you for playing old games that have been sitting in your library, games you haven't played yet, and even some new, free games they're offering for the duration of this... -

Valve Releases Stand-alone Steam Chat App for Mobile
As Facebook has Messenger, Steam has Steam Chat.
Valve just released the new Steam Chat application for both iOS and Android mobile devices. This is a new stand-alone app that allows you to have all of the features of Steam chat in a more lightweight application.
If you're still confused, maybe this will make it a bit easier to understand. You know how there is the bloated Facebook app for mobile phones? And you know how Facebook has a private messaging system that they...
