From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

  • The International 9 Once Again Breaks All the Records

The International 9 Once Again Breaks All the Records

Another year, another batch of broken esports records.

Valve announced today that the ninth annual Dota 2 International Championships (The International 9) has smashed records? Which records? A lot of esports ones.

First off, this marks the first back-to-back victory for any team in the history of The International. That's right, OG won it all this year just as they did in 2018. I'm sure a lot of fans had that spoiled for them thanks to a random email from Twitch. Good...

This is the ninth annual event and, once again, it has broken all sorts of records by having the biggest community-driven prize pool of over $33 million. First place is looking to get $15,276,981 once all is said and done. I think...

Steam Workshop Items Need Approval from Valve

But only for first-party titles from Valve.

You may have already seen that news going around that items on the Steam Workshop must now be approved by Valve before they will appear for the public. This seems to include anything that you may typically find on the Steam Workshop, including custom maps, models, skins, sounds, and the like. This first showed up via a Reddit post on the Global Offensive subreddit.

However, this approval process is not for every Workshop enabled...

Valve to Put an End to Abuse of 'Upcoming Releases' Section on Steam

Hopefully this puts a stop to studios that game the system to always appear on the first page of upcoming releases.

If you ever tried to look at the "all upcoming releases" section on Steam, you probably noticed that a lot of games appearing on the first couple of pages didn't actually have set release dates. A lot of them would appear to be vague windows of time that would, for whatever reason, still show up before games that actually had set releases planned in the coming...

Valve Apologizes for Leaking Street Fighter V Character Reveal Early

Valve apologizes for an incident they call "regrettable and unintentional."

Just this past Thursday, Capcom made the big reveal that E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison were coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. For some fans, this was completely new and exciting news to read. For others, this was just a confirmation of a leak that happened on Wednesday of this past week.

The leak in question was an early release of the reveal trailer for the three upcoming characters....

Introducing Steam Labs - A Place to Test New Steam Features

    Launching today with three experiments.

Valve has just launched a new area on Steam where users can test out new, experimental features for Steam. They're calling this area the Steam Labs and it is here where users will be able to test out potential new Steam features. These tests may one day become commonplace on Steam, but for now they are mere experiments ripe for testing and potential changes based on user feedback.

If you ever used Gmail, you may already know what...

Steam Will Not Support Ubuntu 19.10 and Later

    But will still support Linux.

Valve is one of the big reasons why gaming on Linux has seen such a massive surge in recent years. One of the biggest pushes came not from specially created Linux builds of games, but from Proton, a fork of Wine that Valve released to allow for games to become playable on Linux that may not have native Linux support. At present, there are over 5,400 games that work through Steam on Linux thanks to Proton.

Over the years, Valve has recommended...
