Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

There's just so many demos. So many of them. There's at least more than I can count, and I can count to at least 3. Maybe playable, free demos aren't your thing though. That's fine,...

Early tests show that SD card load times are just as fast as SSD load times.

Some tech focused outlets, including Linus Tech Tips and The Phawx, were able to get out some early impressions on Valve's Steam Deck today. As part of their pre-release testing, these outlets tested the load times on the micro SD cards and compared it to the built-in SSD.

Steam Deck Now Supports Easy Anti-Cheat

Valve has been working with Epic to get Easy Anti-Cheat working on Steam Deck.

Valve continues to address some outstanding concerns concerning the Steam Deck. One of those issues is the fact that some of the most popular anti-cheat services didn't exactly play nice with Proton or the Steam Deck. However, thanks to efforts by Valve and other major players in the industry, the two most popular anti-cheat services are now capable of playing nice with Proton and the Steam Deck.

The first batch of many, many more to come.

With the Steam Deck set to begin shipping by the end of February, we sort of expected that we would soon see the first games to be Steam Deck Verified. Lo and behold, those first games have started to crop up.

While these games may not show their Verified status on their Store pages (though there is a workaround, which we talk about below), the SteamDB website is able to track these verifications as they happen. Right now, the...

Some Twitter User Says Half-Life: Alyx is Coming to PlayStation VR2

Hot off the rumor mill from the most trustworthy of sources.

Fairly random Twitter user @Shpeshal_Nick says that Half-Life: Alyx is coming to PlayStation VR2. This person isn't completely random. They are Nick Baker, the co-founder of XboxEra.com and co-host of a podcast of the same name. So, it's not like Joe Dingleberry is out there making these claims, but this is hardly an official source making them either.

Valve Reveals Steam's Best Games for 2021

Contrary to popular belief, not everything was delayed in 2021.

Once again, Valve employees have poured through the data over the course of hundreds of hours to produce a list of the biggest and best-selling games available through Steam in 2021. It's either that, or they just had a program compile all of the data for them, but the alternative sounds more thrilling.

Valve has broken down Steam's "Best of 2021" into several categories. They have listings for the...

  • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?
    by Shawn Zipay
Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
