It's October 1st, which means a few things. One, it's officially spooky season. Two, Christmas displays have been in stores for almost a month now. Three, it's the start of the big release season for video games (if you ignore early 2022). Four, it's the start of the latest Steam Next Fest.

It's that last one that we'll be talking about today.

That's right, the latest Steam Next Fest is officially underway. From now through October 7, players can download and play literally hundreds of different game demos for all sorts of games that are coming to Steam in the future. There will again be developer livestreams, chats with developers, and demos. Did we mention the demos yet? There are demos.

If this is all too complicated for you, Valve has provided some pretty clear instructions on how to deal with the Steam Next Fest.

HOW TO NEXT FEST

Play Demos: Hover over any game and you'll immediately find a button to install the playable demo. Try one! Or try a dozen.

Watch Livestreams: At the top of the festival page, you'll find a schedule of livestreams. In most cases, it is the dev teams themselves playing their game and answering your questions. Click on the chat icon immediately below the livestream to open the chat window and join the conversation.

Wishlist Your Favorites: Find a game you want to hear about when it launches? Hover over any game and click the star icon in the upper-right corner to add it to your wishlist. You'll get a spiffy email notification when that game releases.
