More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.

Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

Digital only after January 2028.

Starting January 2028, Sony will no longer produce physical discs for new PlayStation game releases. All games released in January 2028 and after will be available only through digital stores such as the PlayStation Store.

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form

This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.

Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

The Witcher 4 Enters Pre-Production Phase

The research phase has come to an end.

On March 21, CD Projekt Red announced that they had started the first stages in creating The Witcher 4. At the time, the studio was in the "research" phase of development. We learned that CDPR is teaming up with Epic and will be using Unreal Engine 5 for the sequel. We also learned that this sequel will add in a new Witcher school based on the lynx.

Entire Story for First Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Leaked

CD Projekt Red made a little oopsie. According to dataminers, "every line and dialogue" included in the upcoming first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 were included in some of the game files in a recent update to the base game.

These dataminers have extracted all of the lines of dialogue and all story beats and shoved them into a compressed file, which has been made available to download. The contents of this leak...

    Returnal Appears on SteamDB

    Codenamed "Oregon."

It looks like another PlayStation-only IP is coming soon to the world of PC gaming. The looping roguelike Returnal was recently added to SteamDB under the codename of "Oregon."

This is just the latest game that seems to confirm that the Nvidia leak from roughly eight months back was indeed the real deal. A significant number of titles included in that Nvidia leak have now turned out to be very real, including Crysis 4, God of War,...

God of War Ragnarok Rated in South Korea

A 2022 release date is looking more and more likely.

God of War Ragnarok has been rated in South Korea. This seems like a pretty decent sign that the game is on track for a 2022 release.

This rating was first spotted by ResetEra user modiz. God of War Ragnarok was rated by the Game Rating and Administration Committee in South Korea and given an "18 and over" rating. Usually when a game is given a rating, it's a pretty safe sign that the game is complete or very...

    The Quarry Online Co-op Delayed

But the game itself is still coming in June.

Supermassive Games, the studio known for Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology titles just made an unfortunate announcement today. Their upcoming title, The Quarry, will have a key component delayed until a month after the game's release.

Horizon, God of War, and Gran Turismo All Getting Television Shows

    Different shows for different services.

Sony just announced that they are making TV adaptations of three major PlayStation franchises. Included in this is a TV series based on Horizon for Netflix, a God of War series for Amazon, and some sort of Gran Turismo series (not at all pictured above, unless...) going to a currently unannounced platform or network.

These shows were revealed during Sony's latest investor briefing that took place earlier in the day on May 26. Sony...

  • EA Suggest Holding 'Healing Circles' Instead of Taking Stance on Abortion Rights

Another studio too cowardly to take a stand.

Electronic Arts is taking quite the cowardly approach to how they are handling a woman's right to abortion and essential healthcare. During a company-wide town hall meeting on May 24, EA management told staff that it could not take a stance on this issue, saying that "being an inclusive company means being inclusive of all those points of view."

That is one hell of a take.

Given the timing of this town...

Time Loops and Space Whales Added to No Man's Sky

Latest expedition offers a chance to get your very own space whale.

No Man's Sky "Leviathan" is the latest expedition to arrive for space adventurers. Leviathan adds in some interesting new game mechanics for players to work their way through, including a little time looping and space whales.

I suppose technically, they aren't whales, but they are in space. They are alien leviathan creatures, but they have already been come to be seen as space whales by the community....

    Launched in English first.

One of the more progressive game franchises out there just got a bit more progressive. An update has rolled out to The Sims 4 that now allows you to customize the pronouns applied to characters within the game. This is a change from the previous system that defaulted set pronouns to characters based on chosen body types.

With today's update, players can now enter into the Create a Sim menu to choose from a couple of premade options such as They/Them....

    Daybreak Cancels Marvel MMO

Funds will now move to several smaller projects instead of one big game.

Last year, a Marvel MMO was announced to be in development at Daybreak Game Company. This is the same studio that made DC Universe Online which still continues to operate to my surprise.

Daybreak's parent company, Enad Global 7, says that instead of dumping a ton of money into making one big game, they will instead spread that money out across several smaller projects. Some of these "smaller...

Real Witcher School Has License Pulled by CD Projekt Red

The alt-right might have something to do with it, because of course.

There once existed a real Witcher school in Poland. I say "once" because the school had its license pulled by CD Projekt Red back in February. The reason for the license getting pulled may be due to one of the school's staff belonging to a prominent alt-right group.

The Witcher school in question was named 5 Żywiołów, or 5 Elements. It began in 2015 and held roughly 40 events over...

Is Overwatch 2 Doomed to Fail?

Reinventing a service or game is never easy, whilst there are a few that have done it in the past, it’s often not something that turns out all that well. There’s a reason why many services have a certain formula and approach that they stick to and is proven to work. Many of the biggest genres like betting for example will seem familiar in how they operate and even in the bonuses as players can check BetMGM Registration code in Ontario for bonuses for example – operators won’t try...

  • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?
    by Shawn Zipay
Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
