  • DICE Says that Battlefield 4 "Absolutely" Destroyed Player Trust in the Franchise

In an interview with GameSpot, DICE LA Producer, David Sirland, said that Battlefield 4 did a fair amount of damage to the Battlefield franchise.
"I can absolutely say that we lost [player] trust in the game's launch and the early parts of the year," Sirland said. "We still probably have a lot of players who won't trust us to deliver a stable launch or a stable game. I don't want to say anything because I want to do. I want them to look at what we're doing and what we are going to do and that would be my answer. I think we have to do things to get them to trust us, not say things to get them to trust us. Show by doing."

Sirland continues on to say that he is "certain that [Battlefield 4's troubled launch] won't be repeated because we've changed the way we work." This then begs the question of the community: Do you have renewed hope in Battlefield Hardline and will you pick up Hardline as a result?

You have to love damage control, Ubisoft does it from time to time, and EA is no exception. "We did some bad stuff, but now is different, we swear, please please buy our new game pleeease???"

Definitely WONT be buying BF:Hardline. I'm upset to this very day that my hardcore gaming machine plays everything BUT BF well. The game is NOT that demanding yet it's hardly stable still. There are people here that claim that they have zero issues but I really wouldn't believe you. Just because the game reports 100+ fps, doesnt mean it's still buttery smooth the way it should be at that FPS level.

Hardline is pretty much a DLC in my eyes. Why would i EVER pay 60 bucks for something that could have been bought for a DLC price. It feels like another CoD release to me: Pump out the next version as quick as possible.

You dont have to believe me, but its true.

Im not talking bugs and "netcode" issues either. Everyone has those as that is a foundation issue. Im talking about playing without stutter and crashing.

But that doesnt matter nor the point of this thread.

I didn't even have a passion for Hardline. It's another franchise and shame that BF title stands before it

I imagine the reason for the "BF" prefix is due to the Frostbite engine running the game. But it has no place in line with the rest of the BF-titles.
It could just as well have been an old fashioned "MOD" from the good old BF 1942 and BF 2 days.

Will I pick it up, probably not.

Will I pick up BF 5 or BF 2143 or BF BC 3 or what ever comes next, only time will tell.

They have to return their attention to the core gameplay and not on the pretty little buildings/dams/windmills that fall down when you shoot at it.

The game is already receiving great critical praise as USA Today says that, "it's a fascinating direction for the Battlefield series" and IGN says it's "fast and furious." "Our goal with Battlefield Hardline was to create the most complete first-person shooter this year by building
