  • Forza Horizon 6 Devs Issue Multiple Lifetime Bans for Playing Leaked Build

    Several lifetimes for several bans.
Four cars race along a road that is lined on either side by towering walls of ice and snow in Japan.

Following up on this weekend's news that the entirety of Forza Horizon 6 was leaked online, comes word that Playground Games and Microsoft are dishing out severe punishments against anybody caught playing ahead of time. To get you up to speed: All 155 GB of Forza Horizon 6 was shared via Steam, initially believed to be due to an error by Playground Games themselves. Everything was unencrypted, leaving the door wide open for pirates to access the full game without much hassle.

A statement was issued by SteamDB about the leak, which seems to suggest that fault of the leak doesn't lie with Playground Games but rather from a third-party that had early access to the game.

Forza Horizon 6 was very likely leaked by someone with early access to the build (reviewer or similar).

At around the same time, the file list appeared on SteamDB because someone (could be someone else) used our token dumper. SteamDB does not display or share keys, nor can it provide downloads.
Playground Games also broke their silence and issued a statement on social media about the leak. They state that this was "not the result of a pre-load issue" but do not say how, exactly, the entirety of the game was shared to the public from an unencrypted Steam upload.

We are aware of reports that a build of Forza Horizon 6 has been obtained prior to its release and can confirm this is not the result of a pre-load issue.

We are taking strict enforcement action against any individuals found accessing this build including franchise-wide and hardware bans. We encourage fans to sit tight for the game’s release on May 19.
Bans are already starting to go out from the Xbox teams for those caught playing the leak of Forza Horizon 6. Posts are starting to be shared on social media and Reddit showing fresh bans that run until December 31, 9999. The reason for the bans is said to be "due to cheating/unallowed modding."

Forza Horizon 6's advance access for the Premium Edition will be out this Friday, May 15. The base game and Deluxe Edition will be out on May 19.
