Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games did a little whoopsie. A few days ago, the studio mistakenly leaked Forza Horizon 6 when they made public an unencrypted repository of the entirety of Forza Horizon 6 on Steam. From the looks of it, it seems as though the entirety of the game's 155 GB of content were available to the public for a brief period of time.
Despite not being public for very long, it didn't take long for people to download those files. If you can believe it, that then led to the game being quickly cracked and made available for download on piracy websites. It's unclear just how much effort needed to actually go into "cracking" Forza Horizon 6 given that all of the files were available in an unencrypted form to begin with.
Several users across social media platforms such as Reddit have already shared screenshots of them allegedly playing the leaked build of the game. Others took it a step further and have shared gameplay videos from the leak.
Neither Playground Games nor Microsoft have offered a public statement about any of this. Forza Horizon 6 is officially slated to be released on May 19 for Steam and Xbox. Those who pre-purchased the $119.99 Premium Edition will get advanced access to the game starting on May 15.
Somehow, this is the second time in almost as many months that a major release was leaked in this fashion. In March, Death Stranding 2 was leaked a couple of days ahead of release when all of its 113 GB were uploaded, also unencrypted, to Steam.
